Weight Loss Blog 3
Today (Wednesday) started off really well. I had a green smoothie for breakfast; it was the one I was supposed to have for lunch yesterday (greens, banana, peach, stevia, and flax seed). After breakfast I spent some time working on some things for my husband. We have our own business called Ascension Marketing Co. My husband is a graphic and web designer and I am the customer service rep.
He did not have breakfast so he was going to combine lunch and breakfast. He asked me to cut up some chicken while he cooked some broccoli. I figured we were going to have a really healthy stir fry. However, an hour later when I came in to the kitchen to see what he created, this is what I found:
This is an extremely cheesy macaroni, chicken, and broccoli casserole. He took an entire block of Velveeta cheese, like 2 lbs. of it at least, and mixed it in with the broccoli, noodles and chicken. Although he admitted that he used too much cheese, he said I could eat it because he used gluten free noodles.
Honestly, I wanted to tell him that I could not eat it. I did at first actually. But then he looked so hurt because he had prepared such a glorious meal, that I did not want to hurt his feelings and I did eat. I am not going to lie, in spite of the fact that it was too cheesy, it tasted really good.
Afterward, my stomach was unhappy. I do not think that my body and cheese, or any milk product, mixes well. I felt kind of sick yesterday after I drank the frappe which had 6 oz. of whole milk in it. I felt bad about eating the macaroni and cheese and vowed that I would only have a salad for dinner. Then I went for a 40 minute bike ride which helped me to feel better.
Later on, I spoke with a friend whom I haven't seen in a while, and she and I made plans to go swimming. She has a sister who is around the same age as my daughter and we were going to have them meet up as well. I decided to grab some pizzas to cook when they came over because it is quick and easy. I looked around for a healthier gluten free option for myself, but they did not have any at the store. Instead, I kept telling myself that I would stick to a salad.
When dinner time came, I made my salad, but the macaroni and cheese from earlier was calling my name. I could not resist and I ate maybe a fourth cup's worth. Afterward, I was not hungry, so I put my salad up for later. Then my friend and her sister came over and we went swimming with my kids.
When we arrived at the house, I found that my husband had baked some chocolate chip cookies. He had one pan for us to share, and one pan he made for himself. My husband is addicted to chocolate chip cookies. The one area today where I can say I did well is that I resisted those cookies. They were not even tempting to me. The pizza, on the other hand, is another story. Pizza happens to be one of my favorite meals. For a couple of years I could not eat regular pizza because I was nursing my son and it bothered his stomach. So in order to satisfy my pizza craving, I would get the gluten, dairy free pizzas.
We had all worked up an appetite swimming so I stuck a pizza in the oven. Once it was cooked, I separated it into 8 slices, and my husband had his own pizza. I figured my daughter and her friend would get two slices, then me and my friend would get two slices. However, my boys, who had been getting a bath, came out and said they were hungry. Well, there went my two slices. Which would have been perfect because I did not need to eat the pizza anyway.
But then my daughter said she was still hungry so I popped another pizza into the oven. By this time, my resolve was completely gone and I wound up eating two slices of pizza; it was that good. (It was the Walmart brand, Pepperoni and Mozzarella. Ya'll, I never had Walmart pizza that tasted so good before. )
I am hoping that all of the exercise I did today will help even things out. I also made myself a cup of diet tea for good measure. I may not have lost any weight today, but I do not think I gained any either. I did learn that I should stay away from dairy products because they do not seem to sit well with my stomach. I am hoping to do a lot better tomorrow.
