Finally Getting a Trim: Hair Journey Blog 3
I started my routine off with a hot oil treatment. I found a site, Napturallycurly.com that gave me steps to do the treatment which I will share below.
- I put some water on the stove to boil. Previously I was heating my oil up in the microwave, but the author of this site said that can kill/damage the nutrients in the oil. So after getting the water to near boiling temperatures, I took it off the stove and then placed my bottle of oil in it. I used a mixture of olive and coconut oil, since that is what I have in my house right now. I let the coconut oil soften on the stove first, and then I was able to pour it in to my applicator bottle.
2. Then I sectioned my hair into four sections, and applied the oil to each section. I twisted my hair when I was done with a section.
As you can see I have oil running down my back and the side of my face. I think I used too much, so next time I will be more careful about how much oil I use so it is not dripping everywhere.
3. I put on a shower cap and wore that for 30 minutes since I did not have a lot of time because I have to get ready to leave the house to go to my trim appointment.
4. I washed my hair with Pantene's Co-wash for Natural hair, and then I used an Aussie conditioner.
5. After washing my hair, I rubbed a mixture of coconut, olive, and castor oil through my hair and scalp. I think this is called sealing your hair, but I am not sure.
6. I went to my trim appointment, yay me! She said my hair did not look very damaged and she did not have to remove a lot. That is good to know.
7. I used African Pride's Shea Butter Miracle to twist my hair. It says it can be used on dry or damp hair so I just went ahead and used it on my dry hair, which felt very soft after everything I did to it earlier.

Also, in case anyone is interested, these are the vitamins I started using. I ran out of my multivitamin and these have several vitamins in them so that's good.
